Overview

The Department of State offers licenses for over 38 professional occupations. The licenses must be renewed and updated with the Department of State to stay active. You can update and renew your Real Estate, Notary Public and Appearance Enhancement licenses online. All other professional licenses are renewed and updated by mail.

When Should I Renew My License?

License terms vary from 1-4 years depending on the specific type of license. Please refer to the Department of State website for specific information regarding license renewal.

When Should I Update My License?

Any time there is a change in information regarding your license such as:

Name change
Address change
New contact information

Download or request a Change Notice form
Fill out the form
Return to the Division of Licensing Services with corresponding fee
You will receive a new license in 4-6 weeks

*Real Estate and Appearance Enhancement Professional licenses can be updated online by logging into your account, updating the information and submitting. You will receive a new license within 4-6 weeks.

Receive a renewal form in the mail 90 days prior to the expiration date
Fill out the form
Mail the form back with the appropriate fee

*Real Estate, Notary Public, and Appearance Enhancement Professional licensees will receive a post-card with instructions to renew their licenses online approximately 90 days prior to the expiration date.
