Register a Cooling Tower and Submit Reports

Refer to this step-by-step process to Register a Cooling Tower:

1. Create or sign in to your NY.Gov account
2. Add property owner information
   • Each owner must have a separate NY.Gov account
   • The same email may be used for multiple accounts
   • Create a new account ID for each property owner
3. Add building information
4. Add equipment information for the building
5. Save or download your confirmation for your records
6. Return to account overview to add more buildings or equipment

Please note: Cooling towers must be inspected and reported at regular intervals, including at least every 90 days while in use, in accordance with state requirements.

Building Details

• Street address of the building where the cooling tower is located. New York City residents will need to include borough, block and lot.
• Name, address, telephone number and email of all owner(s) of the building

Equipment Details

• Intended use of the cooling tower
• Name of the manufacturer of the cooling tower
• Model number of the cooling tower
• Specific unit serial number of the cooling tower
• Cooling capacity (tonnage) of the cooling tower
• Basin capacity

Equipment Maintenance Details

• Method of disinfection (manual, timed, or continuous)
• Name of contractor or employee inspecting and certifying the cooling tower
• Commissioning date
• Last cleaning and disinfection date
• Last inspection and certification dates
• Legionella testing dates, results, and any corrective actions
• Routine culture sample dates and results
• Shutdown periods longer than five days
• Date of discontinued use (if applicable)
