Pregnancy Discrimination in the Workplace is Illegal
New York has a long and proud legacy of leading the way to protect and advance women’s rights. Discrimination against pregnant women in the workplace violates federal and New York state law, however, it is still a widely accepted practice in many businesses and industries. This blatant disregard for the law and for women's rights will not be tolerated in New York .
That's why New York State is launching an education and outreach campaign for employees to know their rights and for employers to know their responsibilities to prevent unlawful pregnancy discrimination.
