Memorial Site Officially Open
LGBT Memorial Commission
Following the tragic shooting that occured in Orlando, the Governor issued Executive Order No. 158 establishing the LGBT Memorial Commission.
The commission is comprised of ten members appointed by the Governor, and overseen and coordinated by Counsel to the Governor.
A selection panel comprised of the LGBT Memorial Commission, advisory design professionals and location site staff will review and select finalists from the submitted artists proposals.

Honoring the LGBT Community
The LGBT Memorial Commission has been tasked with providing recommendations to the Governor for the selection of an architect and/or artist to execute the building of a new memorial in honor of the LGBT community and all victims of hate, intolerance and violence.
A New Monument
A new monument will be located at the western edge of Greenwich Village. The park's waterfront setting and large lawn is very popular among the general public for sunbathing, recreation and relaxation.
Call for Submissions
Architects and artists are encouraged to submit their designs for a new memorial that will honor the LGBT community and those who lost their lives in the Orlando shooting. Designs should align with the chosen memorial site location and New York's commitment to the LGBT community.
Calling all Architects and Artists
The LGBT Memorial Competition is seeking an artist to design and execute the building of a new memorial to honor the LGBT community.
Eligible artists must submit their application and design to the LBGT Commission by November 21, 2016 in order to be considered.
