Structure of the Master Plan for Aging

Overview

The Master Plan for Aging Council is led by the NYS Department of Health (NYSDOH) and NYS Office for the Aging (NYSOFA). Together this interagency team is bridging the collective expertise of NYSDOH and NYSOFA in supporting the needs of older adults across the lifespan, from community-based, preventive programs that support aging in place to health care provider and residential long term services and age-friendly health systems.

Master Plan for Aging Council

Through a Master Plan for Aging Council, NYSDOH and NYSOFA are coordinating the long-time work of partner state agencies in addressing the needs of aging New Yorkers across programs and policies, from housing to mental health, the built environment to transportation, social participation to economic development, and more.

Stakeholder Advisory Committee

Working with the Master Plan for Aging Council, an advisory committee of stakeholders will ensure that the leading experts and the public at large have strong input into the plan and ultimately help establish guidelines for age-friendly policies to provide opportunities for New Yorkers of all ages. Representatives include health care and support service providers, consumers, informal caregivers, older adults, health plan companies, labor and community-based organizations, employers, experts on aging, and academic researchers, among others.

The process will also include focus groups and opportunities for public engagement throughout New York State.
