Apple Making NY-specific Information Available on COVID-19 Website and App; Offers Self-Screening Guidance to New York Consumers and their Families
New York State has worked closely with Apple to fight COVID-19 by making New York specific information on the virus available to New York users through Apple’s COVID-19 screening website and app, the state’s Office of Technology Services (ITS) announced today.
The company will also offer New York-approved screening guidance from the CDC in an effort to slow the spread of the disease and ensure that health care professionals can provide medical help to those individuals who really need it.
Apple is providing the most up-to-date information on Governor Cuomo’s “New York State on Pause” order, as well as the latest news about testing and free mental health resources.
The collaboration between NYS and Apple is the latest benefit of the recently launched “COVID Tech SWAT” initiative, a quick strike volunteer effort where leading technology companies work side by side with ITS professionals to meet growing technology needs during the COVID-19 outbreak.
Apple also released a mobility data trends tool from Apple Maps to support the impactful work happening in New York and around the globe to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. This mobility data may provide helpful insights to New York State and its health authorities and may also be used as a foundation for new public policies by showing the change in volume of people driving, walking or taking public transit in their communities.
