JEDIA Assistant - NYS Office of Employee Relations

About the Role

The Partnership for Inclusive Internships (PII) Intern assigned to the NYS Office of Employee Relations, JEDIA Initiatives will serve as a JEDIA Assistant to the Chief Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Accessibility Initiatives team, providing support for the OER’s implementation of its JEDIA strategic planning, programs, services, initiatives and continuous improvements. This support role is primarily responsible for assisting with diversity and inclusion planning coordination and implementation, and supporting in the design, development and implementation of JEDIA projects.

Days/ Hours Per Week: 3 days/week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) 9-5pm
Length of Internship: 320-hour term. *With the possibility of extending another 320-hour term.


Intern Responsibilities

OER serves in a number of capacities related to the State’s Diversity and Inclusion Initiatives and this position will support, and lead where appropriate, OER’s activities in those initiatives. Activities will include:

  • Supporting the OER’s diversity and inclusion planning implementation including its 2026-2030 Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan and Agency Model Plan for People with Disabilities.
  • Co-leading in planning and implementation efforts of the OER’s Agency Model Plan for People with Disabilities.
    • Identify JEDIA trends via quantitative and qualitative data and analyses on international, federal, state and local levels that support continuous improvement efforts.
    • Contribute towards memoranda, briefs, reports, presentations, and other work products as requested by the JEDIA Officer, incorporating research and analysis on problems and solutions in JEDIA, OER and other related aspects as applicable.
  • Continuous interworking and collaboration with the JEDIA and other OER teams on a on efforts to increase diversity and inclusion and eliminate barriers to diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
    • Support in the development and implementation of JEDIA efforts for OER and Labor Management Committee (LMC) staff as applicable.
    • Support in the development of internal JEDIA initiatives platform for OER and state employees.
    • Assist in efforts that support awareness of JEDIA initiatives on the OER website, social media and other platforms.
    • Attending regular JEDIA planning, follow up and supervision meetings.
