Erie
Erie County is a metropolitan center located on the western border of New York State covering 1,058 square miles and consisting of 3 cities and 25 town governments. Buffalo serves as the county seat and is the second largest city in the State.
The county is bounded by Lake Erie to the west, Niagara County and Canada to the north, Genesee County and Wyoming County to the east, and Cattaraugus and Chautauqua Counties to the south. It is home to countless museums, galleries, restaurants, shops, professional and college sports teams and more than a dozen colleges and universities.
Main Industries: Erie County is a major New York industrial and commercial center. Some of the major employers include: State and Federal government, Kaleida Health, SUNY Buffalo, Catholic Health Systems, Employer Services Corporation, Tops Markets LLC and M & T Bank.
Education: Many educational institutions include: Bryant and Stratton, Buffalo State College, Canisius College, Daemen College, D'Youville College, Erie Community College, Hilbert College, Houghton College, Medaille College, Trocaire College, University at Buffalo, and Villa Maria College.
Land: Erie County has two Indian reservations of Cattaraugus and Tonawanda as well as many State Parks such as Amherst, Beaver Island, Buckhorn Island, Evangola, Knox Farm, Woodlawn Beach State Park and a national protected areas of Theodore Roosevelt Inaugural National Historic Site.
