GOVERNOR PATERSON DIRECTS FLAGS TO BE FLOWN AT HALF-STAFF

Governor David A. Paterson has directed that flags on New York State government buildings be flown at half-staff on Tuesday, October 13, 2009, in honor of Army Specialist Kevin Hill, of Brooklyn, who was killed in action in Afghanistan on October 4.

Specialist Hill died when enemy forces attacked Contingency Outpost Dehanna with small arms and indirect fire. He was assigned to the 576th Mobility Augmentation Company, based at Fort Carson, Colorado.

“On behalf of all citizens of New York, I extend our condolences and sympathy to the friends, family, and fellow soldiers of Specialist Hill,” said Governor Paterson. “We share their grief in the death of this young New Yorker, but we are proud of his service to this great nation and his devotion to her cause.”

Governor Paterson has directed the flags on all State buildings to be lowered to half-staff in tribute to the State's service members who are killed in action or die in a combat zone.
