GOVERNOR PATERSON ANNOUNCES ADMINISTRATION APPOINTMENTS
Governor David A. Paterson today announced the appointment of Veronica Sullivan as Director of the Washington Office of the Governor.
“Veronica Sullivan brings tremendous experience and talent to my Administration,” said Governor Paterson. “She has been involved with complex projects and knows the issues that are important to New Yorkers and our State.”
Ms. Sullivan previously served as Vice President at the NYSE Euronext, where she was actively involved with legislative and communications issues that helped transform the New York Stock Exchange from a mutual not-for-profit to a publicly-traded global exchange. Before joining NYSE Euronext, Ms. Sullivan served as Chief of Staff for then-Representative Charles E. Schumer and Representative Anthony D. Weiner. She has also worked for public relations firm Burson Marsteller, where she focused on media relations, crisis communications and issue management. Ms. Sullivan received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Queens College.
Ms. Sullivan began on June 8, 2009, and will receive an annual salary of $145,000. This appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
Governor Paterson also announced the appointment of Errol Cockfield, Jr. as Senior Advisor for Intergovernmental Affairs.
Mr. Cockfield began his career in the Executive Chamber as Press Secretary. He formerly served as Press Secretary for the Empire State Development Corporation and head of communications and community relations for the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation. Mr. Cockfield has worked for Newsday, serving as the Albany Bureau Chief, a City Economic Development Reporter and the Nassau County Political Reporter. He has also worked as a reporter for the Hartford Courant and the Los Angeles Times. Mr. Cockfield received his Bachelor of Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
Mr. Cockfield began on June 2, 2009, and will receive an annual salary of $159,135. This appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
