GOVERNOR PATERSON ANNOUNCES NOMINATION TO THE NEW YORK POWER AUTHORITY


Governor David A. Paterson today announced that he has nominated the Honorable Eugene L. Nicandri to serve as a member of the Board of Trustees of the New York Power Authority.

Judge Nicandri served as St. Lawrence County Court Judge from 1985 until his retirement in 2004. Prior to serving on the bench, Judge Nicandri practiced law in private practice and in the public sector as the Town Attorney for the Towns of Massena, Brasher, Louisville and Lawrence and as Village Attorney for the Village of Massena. Judge Nicandri's work has included establishing a municipal electric district, serving a portion of northern New York, and analyzing costs and allocation plans for hydroelectric power. Prior to attending law school, he also served on active duty with the U.S. Navy as a commissioned officer. Judge Nicandri received his B.A. from the University of Rochester and his J.D. from Albany Law School.

As a member of the New York Power Authority, Judge Nicandri will not receive a salary. This nomination requires Senate confirmation.
