GOVERNOR PATERSON ANNOUNCES NOMINATION TO THRUWAY AUTHORITY AND CANAL CORPORATION
Governor David A. Paterson today announced that he will nominate Donna J. Luh to serve as a Member of the Board of Directors of the New York State Thruway Authority and Canal Corporation. The Thruway Authority is a seven member board, each member serves a nine-year term. Members of the Thruway Authority Board also serve as members of the Canal Corporation Board.
Ms. Luh currently owns and operates Luh Consulting Services in Depew, New York. Prior to forming her consulting business in 1996, Ms. Luh was the Airport Manager for the Genesee County Airport. She directed all airport operations, administered business management functions and acted as a liaison to the Federal Aviation Administration. Ms. Luh also developed and implemented a marketing plan to attract additional activity and business.
From 1989 to 1996, Ms. Luh was employed by the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority (NFTA) as the Airport Project Coordinator of the $186 million Greater Buffalo International Airport Improvement Program. She was responsible for coordinating and scheduling the overall efforts of the airport project committee, which was comprised of NFTA branch members assigned to the airport project. In addition, Ms. Luh was responsible for the preparation and distribution of monthly progress reports to the public and private sectors, budget analysis and served as a liaison with government officials, community organizations, education groups, business leaders and religious organizations. Ms. Luh was also the Fare Collection Manager and Director of Adjudication for the NFTA from 1984 to 1989, instituting fare collection guidelines and supervising all ticket inspection and adjudication activities. From 1980 to 1984, Ms. Luh was a Guidance Counselor in the Lancaster, New York School System.
Ms. Luh is Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Cheektowaga Economic Development Corporation and is a Member of the Exchange Street Business Association. She received her Bachelor of Science from Canisius College and her Master of Science in Education Administration from Canisius College.
The Thruway Authority and Canal Corporation are charged with operating the New York State Thruway and the New York State canal system. These are unpaid positions and require Senate confirmation.
