Proclamation
Whereas, housing in the year 2008 is the product of years of evolutionary vision within the industry; factory-built housing – including manufactured homes and modular homes – reflect the diversity of new construction in New York State, with energy-efficient homes available in various models and styles which blend in with the aesthetics of many neighborhoods; and
Whereas, the factory-built housing industry is a source of quality, affordable housing for New Yorkers and people nationwide; and
Whereas, the factory-built housing industry provides employment for the thousands of New Yorkers who build, install and service factory-built homes in this State; and
Whereas, this year marks the 58th anniversary of the New York Housing Association; and
Whereas, today, factory-built housing is an excellent alternative for home buyers and the industry is a crucial part of the state economy, creating jobs and generating tax revenues; and
Whereas, with continued advancements in technology and increasing popularity among the general public, factory-built housing is expected to be a significant source of quality homes in the 21st century; and
Whereas, it is fitting to recognize the role of the factory-built housing industry in meeting the housing needs of many New Yorkers, enabling them to realize the American dream of home ownership;
Now, Therefore, I, David A. Paterson, Governor of the State of New York, do hereby proclaim April 12-20, 2008 as FACTORY-BUILT HOME DAYS in the Empire State.
