On December 29, 2006, Lieutenant Governor-Elect David A. Paterson announced he would appoint Richard C. Schwabacher to serve as Director of Communications and Intergovernmental Affairs.  Mr. Schwabacher served on Paterson 2006 and then on the joint Spitzer – Paterson Campaign. Previously, he was the Chief of Staff / Campaign Manager for Dr. Jon Cohen's Campaign for Lieutenant Governor. Mr. Schwabacher began his career working on campaigns in and around Boston. He received his Bachelor's Degree in Political Science from Northeastern University in Boston Massachusetts in 2003.  He is currently pursuing his Master's Degree at Columbia University in the City of New York in Public Health. Mr. Schwabacher was born in Piermont, New York.

As Director of Communications and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Lieutenant Governor, Mr. Schwabacher's salary will be $70,000. This appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
