COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR - DARREN DOPP
Biography

On December 7, 2006, Governor-Elect Eliot Spitzer announced he would appoint Darren Dopp to serve as Communications Director. Mr. Dopp served as Communications Director for the Attorney General's Office from 1999 to 2006. Previously, he was Communications Director to the New York State Assembly Majority Leader from 1995 to 1999, and a Press Officer in the administration of former Governor Mario Cuomo from 1988 to 1994. Mr. Dopp began his career as a newspaper reporter for the Binghamton Evening Press. He was a state government reporter and correspondent for the Associated Press. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Economics from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1981 and a Master’s Degree in Public Affairs from the American University in Washington, D.C in 1983. Mr. Dopp is a native of Endwell, New York.
As Communications Director, Mr. Dopp's salary will be $175,000. This appointment does not require Senate confirmation.
